The Bharat Scouts & Guides

The Bharat Scouts & Guides is the national scouting and guiding association of India. The national headquarters of BS&G is recognized by the government of India. Scouting was founded in India in 1909 as an overseas branch of this scout association and became a member of world organization of the scout movement in 1938. Guiding in India started in 1911 and was amongst the founder members of world association of girl guides and girl scouts in 1928, also covering present-day Bangladesh and Pakistan at that time. The BS&G serves 2,886,460 scouts (as of 2011) and 1,286,161 Guides (as of 2005). Scouting and guiding is an international movement to inculcate a spirit of loyalty, patriotism & thoughtfulness for others in the young boys and girls. Ministry of youth affairs and sports provides assistance for promotion of scouting and guiding all across the country.

The Bharat Scouts & Guides in VCDC:

The Bharat Scouts & Guides in Vishwa Chethana Degree College was started in 26 August 2019. Mr. A.N. Narendra Kumar LT(R) LOC inaugurated the BS&G Unit along with the Principal Mr. Prakesh Reddy and the program coordinator Mr.Yeriswamy G.P (RL).

AIMS OF BS&G:

The purpose of the movement is to contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual potentials as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of local, national and international communities. The scout/guide movement is based on the principles of Duty to god, Duty to others and Duty to self.

MOTTO:

The ROVER/RANGER motto is simply “SERVICE”.

GOALS OF BS&G:

The overriding goal of the scouting and guiding movements is to help develop the young people in local communities. This goal is reflected in the official statement of purpose of the guides and mission statement of the scouts.

Scout/Guide Promise:

"On my honour, I promise that I will do my best
To do my duty to God,and my country,
To help other people and
To obey the Scout/Guide Law."

Events:

Vishwa Chethana Degree College Scout and Guide Unit organized the cleaning program in Thimmaraswamy Temple, Anekal on 26 August 2019.
